Will someone come to my house and take my property if I file bankruptcy?

Will someone come take my property if I file bankruptcy?

This is a fairly common question, and certainly a cause for concern.  When you file for bankruptcy, you list all of your assets (property) and their value.  Depending on the type of bankruptcy you’ve filed, the trustee may require you to either turn property over to them to satisfy some of your debts, or force you to pay their value.  But no one is going to come into your house and start putting a price on your property and taking them.
