Can I be fired for filing bankruptcy?
No, you cannot be fired for simply filing for, or being discharged from, bankruptcy. You also cannot be fired for having a debt discharged from your credit.
However, it is important to note that if your employer has a different reason to fire you, not related to the bankruptcy, filing bankruptcy cannot protect your from losing your job. The Automatic Stay, which protects from collection calls and eviction, does not prevent the termination of your job.
